Travel| New York City Day 2...

So day 2, think we were all feeling the jet lag today I was so tired and having to get up early on holiday should be illegal, but needs must and today we felt like real New Yorkers riding the subway down to South Ferry Station to hop on a boat to see the glorious Miss Lady Liberty.
So just to give you an idea of secruity our boat seats were booked for 10am and we were told to get there for 8:30am, the Americans seem to love security and we pretty much went through airport security just to get on this boat, and from my previous trip to NYC theres even more checks when you get to the Statue of Liberty.

Comfiest shoes ever for walking around all day, Adidas Superstars.

The great thing about the boat is its so slow and you can get a really good view of the NYC skyline and the amazing new One World Trade Centre, which towers over the rest of the city, it really is beautiful.

As a group we decided not to get off at the Statue as you can see all you need to see from the boat and we were more interested in spending time at Ellis Island, the building is amazing and the tours there are very good, you really get a feel for what is was like for so many immigrants arriving in America.

Yep the school buses really are like this, sometimes being in NYC made me feel like I was on a movie set, all the things you see in the movies really are real, sounds so stupid but its just how it feels.

Travel| New York City Day One

Ah I love New York  as soon as you step outside the airport and see all the yellow taxis waiting to take excited tourists into the big city or New Yorkers simply needing a ride home, the buzz of the city is everywhere.
We stayed at the Homewood Suites by Hilton located about 10 minutes walk from Times Square on 37th street, perfect location and amazing hotel! The hotel staff were lovely, everyone in New York is so friendly.

Our first day consisted of taking in our location and getting familiar with the city, theres a lot to take in and so much is going on around you. We took a walk down to Times Square which is just amazing, day and night its 24/7 bright lights, buzz, people everywhere!

One of my favourite things about being in America is the trucks, they make our lorries look pretty boring, i'd much rather be driving around in something like this, then what we have in England.
I haven't mentioned the main reason this trip to New York came around... The lady to the far right, this trip was organised to celebrate her birthday and we were very happy to help her celebrate!

 Grand Central Station...

New York library, where you can't actually take any books from, weird right, this is just a research library and no books are allowed to leave.

The main touristy part of the first day was our trip up the Empire State Building! Its so high and for me was a proud moment to stay up there as I'm pretty scared of heights and lifts so was quite an achievement. But the views are so worth it, definitely something worth doing.
Unfortunately the weather wasn't brilliant for seeing but in the distance you can just see the new One World Trade Centre now I thought the Empire State building was high, until I saw that in the distance.

All my outfits from my trip will be up on another blog soon.

That evening we went to a proper American diner, Ellen's Stardust diner! Now if you like to eat fancy food and have a relaxing time at dinner then don't come here. The waiters and waitresses sing all the big broadway songs whilst serving you,and they are very good, its pretty cool we had an odd experience in there, the food is nothing amazing but its definitely a different eating experience and something to try.
